The first event was a workshop held in Khartoum in Sudan with the participation of stakeholders from the Water Resources Research Institute (WRRI) of Egypt, the Dam Implementation Unit and Hydraulic Research Center of Sudan, the Merowe Dam Managers, the Nile Basin Initiative, the University of Khartoum, University of Oxford, University of Colorado, University of Applied Sciences in Cologne, and the University of Manchester.
Participants reviewed the various historic models applied on the Nile River basin with a focus on the River Ware software. Moreover, participants conducted talks on drought indicators, drought risk assessment, historical data, HRC and NBI models.
